From the moment you wake up from your procedure, you’re on your recovery journey. Being prepared pre-surgery by having all your products ready to go, helps reduce stress after surgery so healing can quickly begin.
Wearing quality compression bras will help keep your implants in position as well as controlling swelling. Many Surgeons will require you to wear a Stabiliser Band which helps prevent the implants from rising.
Most likely, you will come out of theatre wearing both of these garments and will remain in them for at least 24 hours. We recommend having two surgical bras at a minimum, as you will most likely be wearing them for about 6 weeks at least. Bodyment advises always consulting with your Surgeon and following the directions provided by the clinic at all times.

Having your implant size ready and your current bra size, we will guide you through taking a measurement of your underbust. Having fitted patients with post-surgical bras for over 20 years, we guarantee you will correctly sized. However, if after your procedure the bra does not fit as intended – we’ll fix it for you immediately. We will jump on a Zoom or FaceTime call with you and check the sizing. For Complete Recovery Bodyment Recommends
Stabiliser Band – We carry both the ClearPoint Medical and Marena Stabiliser bands. Many Surgeons have their patients in Stabiliser Bands immediately post-surgery to keep the implants in position and to help prevent any aesthetic changes.
Anti-Bacterial Wash – to be used on the day of your surgery just before going to the hospital. This anti-bacterial wash prepares your skin for surgery by removing any unwanted bacteria.
Paraffin Cream – Applied to the wound to keep it moist and promote healing. Usually started on your first post-op visit.
Silicone Scar Tape – Australia’s best BodySil Silicone Scar Tape. Once your wounds have completely healed, it’s time to begin using BodySil. Your scars will fade and stay flat making them less noticeable. We recommend using BodySil 24/7 for up to three months or until you are happy with the look of your scars.
We recommend being well prepared in advance of your surgery.
Here’s a timeline to guide you.
Three Weeks Before Surgery: Meet with our experienced fitter via Zoom or FaceTime to determine the appropriate sized bras. Remember to take note of your implant size and regular bra size. By booking your Fitting Appointment well before your surgery, we can send you a measuring tape so you will have it on hand for the online fitting.
Day Of Surgery: Just before leaving home, have a shower and complete your normal routine (including washing your hair) then apply Chlorhexidine from your neck down to your belly button. After your shower, don’t put on any deodorant, moisturiser or perfume and head straight to the hospital taking one bra and stabiliser band with you.
Four to Five Days Post Surgery: Check with your Surgeons rooms to see if/when you can shower. When you do shower, it is the ideal time to change into a fresh bra and hand wash your soiled bra.
Seven Days Post Surgery: You will seeing one of your clinics nurses at about day 7. Your wound will be checked, dressings changed and you will probably be asked to start massaging your wounds with Paraffin Cream.
One to Six weeks Post-Surgery: Continue wearing your post surgical bras 24/7 or as directed by your Surgeon. Remember to change into a fresh clean bra after each shower. Your Surgeon may ask you to stop wearing the Stabiliser Band at any time up to six weeks after surgery.
After Six weeks post-surgery: Bodyment recommends that you continues to wear either your post-op bras or any of our non-wired bras for at least 12 months after surgery to allow your breasts to really settle and relax.
